NPAP Unveils Strategic Task Forces for a Greener Nigeria

In a momentous move on October 10 and October 15, 2023, the Nigeria National Plastic Action Partnership (NPAP) officially introduced three task forces focusing on Policy, Behavioral Change, and Innovation in Lagos and Abuja. This groundbreaking initiative aligns seamlessly with the Global Plastic Action Partnership’s (GPAP’s) national strategy, drawing together nominated representatives and volunteers from government, the private sector, academia, non-governmental organizations, and civil society.

The task forces, born out of collaboration, signify a united front in designing and implementing sustainable solutions within their respective impact areas. By bringing together diverse voices and expertise, NPAP is paving the way for strategic actions to address the plastic waste challenge in Nigeria. 

Each task force having a clear mandates to bolster NPAP’s efforts by catalyzing strategic actions and contributing to the direction of the National Action Roadmap. This roadmap is a crucial blueprint for navigating Nigeria toward a future with reduced plastic waste and increased environmental sustainability.

Under its Behavioural Change Task Force, our founder Abimbola Abikoye delivered the key outcome in collaboration with other organisations leading the fight against plastic pollution through advocacy and plastic innovation to achieve a greener environment. In giving the outcomes, our founder mentioned a need to how to drive a robust public awareness in partnership with relevant Ministerial Departmental Agency to scale national awareness.

Plastics have emerged as a significant threat to our daily lives, affecting the food we eat, the water we drink, and the way our meals are produced. Despite the positive attributes of plastics, their adverse effects have come to overshadow their benefits.
