RRN Research Study Tour: Driving Coastal Communities' Participation in Climate Action

In August 2023, we launched of RRN Community Research Study Tour where we began exploring the five coastal communities selected to achieve our mission for the research and forms an integral component of our 2024 Coastal Community Conference on Climate Change slated to host in February 2024.

During the research study, led by Senami Anko had sub-groups of five to cover our spread while ensuring the mission set out is achieve and through the research, we uncovered the following facts:

  1. The research reinstated that climate change is indeed impacting coastal communities and it is disrupting their livelihoods.
  2. The selected communities understand how the climate crisis and other environmental change realities are making long-aged traditional practices passed down from generations become obsolete and they have sort other ways to build resilience.
  3. These communities have little or no support despite their role in ensuring food security and by extension sustaining local economies with no social security.
  4. The research process helped validate the information that communities impacted by climate change are very verse with the various climate-related impact they face. Hence, debunking information that they do not know how it impacts them.
